PORCELAIN

Porcelain tile is a unique type of ceramic tile, fired at extreme temperatures, making them much stronger than ordinary ceramic tiles and even harder than granite.

RECTIFIED

These are tiles which had the edges ground down so to not show any framing of the screen print.  This process also makes a tile have the precise size every time.

STONE

LIMESTONE

Limestone is a sedimentary rock formed over millions of years from deposits of marine invertebrates.  It is predominately white with numerous fascinating fossilized remains

TRAVERTINE

Travertine is a form of limestone which is harder and varies in colour from light ivory to a dark noce.  Raw travertine has a honeycomb structure which is pitted with holes.  In cool limestone regions, calcite-rich water seeps down through rocks to fill cavities with stalactites and stalagmites.  Here it is formed by tiny particles that carried up through the watery sprays, to become almost ‘a river frozen in time’.  Travertine are the deposits left behind.  Here are some of the many ways to prepare travertine stone.

HONED AND FILLED: - This is where the stone has been filled with resin then they smooth the surface leaving no holes or pits.

UNFILLED: - Raw travertine which will have pits and holes in.

TUMBLE TRAVERTINE: - The tiles have been put in a large hopper full of small stones.  This will smooth out the edges and give an aged look.

MARBLE: - Is actually limestone that has been crystallised, can be polished to bring out the natural colour.

CHIPPED EDGE TRAVERTINE: - The edges are chipped away by chains leaving an aged look.

STONE ITEMS

TRAVERTINE, MARBLE, LIMESTONE, SLATE

These stone items are all natural and are susceptible to pits, cracks and a heavy veining effect.  They can also have extreme colour differences even in the same crate.  These are natural characteristics of stone.  They are not flaws but the natural beauty of stone as no two pieces are alike.

You must inspect all material prior to fixing.  Check thickness, sizing, colour and veining.  Mix all the stones to achieve an acceptable blend to the customer’s approval.

NO CLAIMS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR ANY REASON AFTER THE MATERIALS HAVE BEEN FIXED.
